How do I scan a receipt?
When adding a new item, tap Scan Receipt at the top of the form. Point your camera at the receipt, choose a photo from your library, or pick a PDF invoice. MyWrntee extracts the text (using Live Text on photos and OCR on scanned PDFs), then shows a Tap to Assign review screen where you tap each line to assign it to the correct field (store, date, price, etc.).
Features
Apple
Can I import a PDF invoice instead of scanning a receipt?
Yes. When adding or editing an item, tap Choose PDF Invoice (or Add Receipt PDF on the edit screen) to pick a PDF from Files, iCloud Drive, Mail attachments, or any other document source. MyWrntee reads the text directly from the PDF when possible (instant, perfect accuracy for digital receipts) and falls back to on‑device OCR for scanned PDFs. Your item details get pre‑filled via the same Tap to Assign review screen, and the original PDF is automatically attached to the saved item as the receipt — just like a receipt photo, but for digital orders.

What is "Tap to Assign" for receipt scanning?
After scanning a receipt, MyWrntee shows you all the extracted text line by line. Tap any line to assign it to a field like Store Name, Purchase Date, Price, or Notes. You can assign multiple lines to Item Name (joined on separate lines) and Location (joined with commas) — perfect for multi-line product descriptions or store addresses. This gives you full control over what gets filled in, rather than relying on automatic detection alone.

On iPad, you can drag any warranty item from the Items list or from within a group and drop it onto a different group or sub-group. Drag and drop works in the Groups list, within group detail views, and between sub-groups.

Why isn't my data syncing to my Mac or Apple Watch?
iCloud Sync is now enabled by default on all devices. If you installed the app before this update, open Settings > iCloud and make sure the toggle is on, then restart the app. All devices must be signed into the same Apple ID. The Apple Watch syncs entirely through iCloud (not Bluetooth), so it may take a few minutes for data to appear on first launch. If data still doesn't show, try force-quitting and reopening the Watch app.

Do I need to assign a group when adding an item?
Yes. Every item requires a group or sub-group before it can be saved. If you don't have any groups yet, a Create Group button appears right in the form — tap it to quickly set one up, and it will be auto-selected when you return. This ensures all your warranties are properly organized from the start.

Can I select multiple receipt lines for item name or location?
Yes. In the receipt review screen, you can assign multiple lines to Item Name and Location. Item name lines appear on separate lines when viewing or editing the item. Location lines are joined with commas to form a complete address. After the location is populated, tapping the field triggers address autocomplete so you can select a properly formatted address from Apple Maps suggestions.
